Study after Jane Ann Altman: Guardians - 18 in x 24 in - Oil on Panel 2010 - NFS After moving our Physical Therapy offices to 222 St. John St in Portland, Maine, we turned our waiting room into a gallery representing the ten or so artists that have mentored me along with my own work: Barbara Loring, Brita Holmquist, Patsy Cobb, David Campbell, John Santoro, David Travers, David Little, Edward Winslow, Alex Rheault and Andrea Kennett Johnson

We had this 'Guardians' poster by Jane Ann Altman that Homeopath Nancy Fredericks loved and it would have been the only non-painting in the office so I offered to do a study of it. We adapted it's caption by Diane Ackerman and posted it high up on the wall of the gallery:

"We will not dishonor our souls with hatred, but offer ourselves humbly as guardians of nature, as healers of misery, as messengers of wonder, as architects of peace..."

See the art framed.
